The five listening skills are hard to do, but to me self-centered listening is the hardest. Self-centered listening is when you are talking to someone and you only see the story from your point of veiw. It's hard not to because you need to be able to see the conversation from the other persons point of veiw which is hard for probably everybody. If you do this you will say something like, "You think your grade is bad? You need to hear hat grade I got on my test!" You will always stray away from them to yourself and that is bad listening skills. Another reason why this is hard not to do is because it is easy to understand yourself, but it takes work to understand someone else. It won't be layed out for you on how they think. That is why it is easy to have self-centered listening and hard to go in the other persons shoes.
